Why a club with its own data department chose MyGamePlan

Al-Qadsiah have invested in their own data and innovation team, but still decided to use MyGamePlan to unify their data and video.

The Challenge

Build it, or adopt it?

Like most clubs with resources and ambition, Al-Qadsiah have invested in their own data and innovation department, with the goal of building most of their analysis stack in-house. The advantage is control: the club can customise everything to what they need, rather than working around the generic metrics and definitions of off-the-shelf platforms.

But along the way they realized that owning their own video capability was a different challenge. They stopped when they saw that with MyGamePlan had alreqady built exactly what they needed, without the comprimise of giving away control.

Adopting was faster and cheaper, as they were further ahead than anything they could build. It also freed their own people to work on the analysis, rather than the plumbing underneath it.

"Even if we attempted something similar, we would never catch up. So I realized that we should use MyGamePlan, and not develop this ourselves."

The Solution

A platform they could make their own

Al-Qadsiah's data and video team embedded the club's identity straight into MyGamePlan. That level of customisation was the whole point. Without it, they would have been back to building everything themselves. Now their entire analysis and coaching department now work together with the same definitions, in an integrated workflow.

In preseason, they studied how the team faces low blocks in the Saudi Pro League and turned it into eight clear priorities. Those eight points were built into MyGamePlan in a single day, tracked by data and by video, in the structure the analysts already use.

"Automating the XMLs is what saves us hours, but that is just the starting point. The real power is how specific I can be. I can build any visual I can think of, and when the coach asks me something on the spot, I don't have to go away and prepare it. I just ask MGPT and I have the answer straight away.""

HOW MGPT changes the WORKflow

Getting an AI Assistant on the staff

Analysis used to run on a delay. A coach used to ask a question and wait a day or two for the answer, then scramble to work it into the next training session.

By using MGPT, the question and the answer happen live, in the same conversation and meeting. Now the coach can ask something, instantly get the answer and video, and act on it while the session is still ahead of them.

What changed with MyGamePlan

Data and video in one structure

All analysis is now automatically tracked in the club structure, with video, so the club staff speak the same language.

Answers in the moment

Coaches ask a question to MGPT, and get the answer with video back in minutes. They can now focus on strategy and planning instead of logistics.

Analysis that reaches the players

The team analysis filters into working points for players and is shared directly with them as part of their development plan.

REACHING THE PLAYERS

Analysis that empowers the players

The final step is to take the work out of the analysis room and put it in front of the players. The staff used to manually tag both the good and bad actions of each player.

With MyGamePlan, everything is automatically shared as part of an individual development plan. Players prefer clear visual feedback, and the staff can now sit them down, show them improvement points, and build a plan around it - without having to spend any time on manual tasks.
